Spread the love

With its lovely beaches, rich history, delicious cuisine, and proximity to the mainland, Krk Island is the perfect destination for an authentic travel experience.

With Cres, Krk Island is Croatia’s largest island in the Adriatic Sea. It is known for its crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, and beautiful nature. The island has a rich history dating back to Roman times. It has many cultural and historical landmarks, including ancient churches, forts, and museums. Baška tablet (Croatian: Bašćanska ploča) from c. 1100 AD is one of the first monuments containing an inscription in the Croatian language, written in the Glagolitic script. It was discovered in 1851 near the village of Baška.

The northwestern part of the Krk is low and green and harbours several settlements like Omišalj, Njivice and Malinska. Krk and Punat are on the opposite, southern side, while Bašk and Stara Baška are on the south-eastern tip, arider and craggier. The picturesque town of Vrbnik, known for its delicious wine and narrow streets, is built on the cliff facing the mainland. Several villages are located in the central part f the island.
